چکیده

In this study, three flexural steel frames of 4, 8, and 12 floors were investigated. The designed based on the standard guidelines then subjected to nonlinear dynamic analysis. Damage structures with concept inelastic behavior and, consequently, hysteresis energy is very close. Therefore, it can be said that at these levels a significant criterion for designing or controlling structure. high dependence structural damage has caused new design methods considered by researchers engineers. research, first 12-story medium bending frame system statically equivalent method. Then, all under effect seven near-field accelerometers far-field analyzed nonlinearly dynamically. purpose study investigate distribution damage, energy, relative displacement, roof base shear in studied frames. following, necessity using reinforcement method reduce displacement described regulations, viscoelastic dampers are used strengthen study. results show despite uniform resistance height floors, diagrams do not follow concentration observed one more floors. order make best use maximum capacity, strength alone does seem logical other parameters such as which play major role member should process. Viscoelastic have been retrofitting. type damper great absorbing reducing buildings. By calculating whole structure, was seen level earthquakes greater than distant also higher number structure increases, values increase. As added layers, highly reduced so that, floor field earthquakes, 54%, 45%, 48% decrease, respectively, 55%, 68%, 64%, respectively. Also, high-altitude shows good performance near area.

Damage Assessment of Reinforced Concrete Buildings Considering Irregularities (RESEARCH NOTE)

Structural damage can be controlled in performance based seismic design (PBSD) according to the requirement under a certain hazard level. During strong ground motion (GM) such buildings suffer minor to major damages depending on the shaking level of GM. The available damage assessment methods are complex, tedious and time-consuming procedure. In the present study, a simplified empirical model h...

Evaluation of 2D concentrically braced frames with cylindrical dampers subjected to near-field earthquake ground motions

Near field earthquakes have imposed major damage to buildings in the past years. In some cases, the intensity of such damage is too considerable to be disregarded. The most effective way to improve seismic performance of buildings is applying a seismic control technique. The cylindrical friction damper is one of these methods, which has become popular for its desirable performance in the energy...

Probabilistic assessment of the seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings

The main objective of this article is to assess the expected seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings from a probabilistic point of view by using Monte Carlo simulation. To do that, the seismic behavior of the building is studied by using random capacity obtained by considering the mechanical properties of the materials as random variables. Starting from the capacity curves, one can obta...

Earthquake Response of Adjacent Structures with Viscoelastic and Friction Dampers

We study the seismic response of two adjacent structures connected with a dry friction damper. Each of them consists of a viscoelastic rod and a rigid block, which can slide without friction along the moving base. A simplified earthquake model is used for modeling the horizontal ground motion. Energy dissipation is taken by the presence of the friction damper, which is modeled by the set-valued...

Seismic Damage Assessment of RC Buildings Subjected to the Rotational Ground Motion Records Considering Soil-Structure Interaction

The significance of the seismic rotational components have been overlooked in the seismic evaluation of structural behavior. As researchers have measured seismic components more accurately using sensitive rotational velocity sensor, it was observed that the magnitude of rotational components is considerable and could not be neglected. Hence, some parts of seismic damage or failure of structures...
